Los Tigres del Norte Information
Los Tigres del Norte is an American norteno band. The current lineup consists of Jorge Hernández, Hernán Hernández, Eduardo Hernández, Luis Hernández, and Óscar Lara. Jorge Hernández, his siblings, and their cousins all hail from the little town of Rosamorada in Mocorito, Sinaloa, Mexico, where they formed the band. In the late '60s, while still in their teens, they relocated to San Jose, California, and started making records. While in Japan and South Korea, they performed for American troops.
Los Tigres del Norte performed during an immigration reform rally on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on October 8, 2013. Songs like "La Puerta Negra" (1986), "De Paisano a Paisano" (2000), and "Mis Dos Patrias" (2007) were chosen because they spoke to the issues that were discussed during the protest. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), at the time the minority leader, introduced the band. A Mexican-American singer-songwriter and actor, Lila Downs also sang duets with the band.
As of July 2007, the group's discography has sold 32 million copies. They have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and seven Grammys and six Latin Grammys by 2015. In 2015, their song "Era Diferente" (which translates to "She Was Different") won the Special Recognition Award at the 26th annual GLAAD Media Awards. Billboard says the band is the fifteenth most influential Latin band ever.
