Los Campesinos! Information
Los Campesinos is a seven-piece indie pop band. The current lineup of the group consists of Gareth Paisey, Neil Turner, Tom Bromley, Kim Paisey, Rob Taylor, Jason Adelinia, and Matt Fidler. The group first came together at Cardiff University in 2006. Gareth Paisey (lead vocals), Neil Turner (guitar), and Tom Bromley (guitar) are the only original members still with the band after multiple lineup changes.
Also on the current roster are guitarist Rob Taylor, keyboardist Kim Paisey, bassist Matt Fidler, and drummer Jason Adelinia. As their stage names, they all use "Campesinos!" in place of their last names. The band's first studio album, 2008's Hold on Now, Youngster..., was influenced by the twee pop movement. The band's second studio album, 2008's We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed, was released in October.
On May 8, 2006, the band played their debut show at a student union club night, and they went on to play several progressively more successful gigs in and around Cardiff. Death To Los Campesinos!, "It Started With A Mixx," "Sweet Dreams, Sweet Cheeks," and "You! Me! Dancing!" were all included in an early sample. We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives, and Don't Tell Me to Do the Math(s) were the band's first single, released on February 26, 2007.
