Little Steven Information
Little Steven is another name to Steven Van Zandt (November 22, 1950). Also known as Miami Steve and Silvio, he is an American producer, musician, songwriter, activist, and actor. Steven was a member of the E Street Band by Bruce Springsteen, working as a guitarist and plays the mandolin. He was fond of music from an early age. He learned to play guitar and got impressed by the performances by the Rolling Stones on Hollywood Palace along with the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show.
The first short-lived band formed by Little Steven was named Whirlwinds in around August 1964. Mates was another one formed in 1965. He joined Shadows later in May 1966. Steven wrote for Southside Johnny's music as well as produced the first three albums by him. He toured with E Street Band by Bruce Springsteen several times, including; Born to Run tours, The River Tour, The Rising Tour, Vote for Change Tour, Working on a Dream Tour, High Hopes Tour, River Tour 2016/Oceania '17, and a few more.
Some of the personal hit discographies performed by Little Steven are Men Without Women (1982), Freedom - No Compromise (1987), Born Again Savage (1999), Lilyhammer: The Score (2014), Soulfire (2017), Soulfire Live! (2018), Summer of Sorcery (2019), Greatest Hits (1999), etc. He has also done several successful projects with Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, Gary U.S. Bonds, Artists United Against Apartheid, Davie Allan & The Arrows, Darlene Love, and a few more.
Steven was also sighted in 3 of the television shows; The Sopranos as Silvio Dante, The Christmas Chronicles as Wolfie, and Lilyhammer as Frank Tagliano. He also hosted the annual "Policeman's Ball" and founded 501(c)(3) Rock and Roll Forever Foundation. He has been a director to Rock Band (video game) music selection committee.
Steven also created the group called the Artists United Against Apartheid as an activist accompanied by Arthur Baker. They together crafted an album “Sun City” to spread awareness South African apartheid policy. Nearly 54 various artists were assembled for this album. A very own record label by Little Steven was entitled Wicked Cool Records in December 2006.
