Lightning in a Bottle (LIB) is an annual music event in the Central Valley region of California, first held in 2006. In 2000, Lightning in a Bottle got its name from a secret celebration. From 2000 through 2003, the birthday celebration recurred each July as a private affair. The first Lightning in a Bottle Music & Art Festival occurred in 2004.
In 2004, the event's co-founders and producers, now named themselves The Do LaB, staged Lightning in a Bottle at Gold Creek Ranch in the Angeles National Forest. The festival returned to Live Oak Camp in Santa Barbara, California, in July 2006 after a year's break and was held there annually from May 2006 through May 2008. Lightning in a Bottle was moved after the festival's seventh year to accommodate the growing number of attendees. After another year off, the festival finally made its way to Oak Canyon Ranch in Silverado, California, in 2010. Lake Skinner, located in Winchester, California, played host to the tournament that year.
San Antonio Reservoir Recreation Area near Bradley is the first venue outside of Southern California to host the festival in 2014. Attendees re-visited Bradley, California's San Antonio Reservoir Recreation Area in 2015 and 2016. The Lightning in a Bottle music event was given the green light by the Kern County Board of Supervisors in 2019.
