In addition to playing cumbia, bossa nova, and boleros, the American band La Santa Cecilia also incorporates a variety of other musical genres into their sound. They are located in Los Angeles, California. Saint Cecilia is venerated as the patron saint of singers and musicians. The band strives to represent bicultural identity in the United States, firmly rooted in contemporary music, while maintaining a strong connection to their Mexican ancestry and Latin American influences.
2014 the band was awarded the Grammy for Best Latin Rock, Alternative, or Urban Album for their full-length studio album Treinta Das. They received a nomination in the same category in 2017 for their album Buenaventura (Universal Music) and a nomination in 2018 for their album Y Vivir (Universal Music). On October 18, 2019, La Santa Cecilia released their seventh album, simply La Santa Cecilia. Before this release, the band had already released six albums.
The band La Santa Cecilia has played at various United States and Mexico venues, including the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. These venues range from rock clubs to music festivals.
