LA Guns Information
L.A. Guns are an American hard rock band founded in 1983. The band originated from Los Angeles, California, and its music is defined as glam metal and hard rock type. The current members working in the group are Ace Von Johnson (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Tracii Guns (lead guitar), Phil Lewis (lead vocals), Scot Coogan (drums), and Johnny Martin (bass guitar, backing vocals). Tracii Guns and Rob Gardner were the founders of the first incarnation of the band in 1983. It merged with fellow Los Angeles group, Hollywood Rose, to form Guns N' Roses in March 1985. Later, after a brief tenure, Guns founded L.A. Guns with a new lineup.
L.A. Guns achieved moderate chart success in the late 1980s and early 1990s as well as faced numerous lineup changes. The debut album by the band was L.A. Guns that featured six songs co-written by former singer Paul Black including One More Reason", "Nothing to Lose," "Bitch is Back," etc. The album was released in 1988. It was followed by Cocked & Loaded (1989), Hollywood Vampires (1991), Vicious Circle (1994), American Hardcore (1996), Shrinking Violet (1999), Man in the Moon (2001), Waking the Dead (2002), The Missing Peace (2017), and a few more.
Greatest Hits and Black Beauties was a compilation album by the band released in the summer of 1999. Live: A Night on the Strip was a live album released the next year. Loud and Dangerous: Live from Hollywood is another live album. The band is currently working in two versions, Tracii Guns' and Phil Lewis' version and Steve Riley's version.
