Kiltro Information
Kiltro, a Denver-based band named after that term, draws on a wide range of sounds and musical styles, from Chilean folk music to Brian Eno's ambient stylings and spiraling prog-rock, to create a sound that sounds like a mutt.
Bowers-Castillo was the only member of Kiltro when it was created. However, as his complex and melodic songwriting progressed, he gathered two bandmates he met at CU Boulder. Will Parkhill joined Kiltro to play guitar in May 2018, and Michael DeVincenzi joined late last year to play drums.
Chris Bowers-Castillo, the band's leader, grew up dividing his time between Colorado and Chile, drawing inspiration from the artists he listened to along the way, including Radiohead and Grizzly Bear and Chilean folk musicians.
His lyrics are anchored in Chile; most of his songs depict stories set in Valparaiso and other cities, real or imagined. "Curicó," named after a Chilean town, follows an untrustworthy narrator who believes he's encountered a ghost on his way into town.
