Brian Todd Collins (April 1, 1986) is an American record producer, singer, rapper, and songwriter. He was born in Los Angeles, California. He is professionally known by his stage name, Kid Ink. Brian Todd Collins used to make hip-hop songs during his adolescent years in after-school music programs. He attributes some of his drive to the work ethic of producers and songwriters like Pharrell Williams and Swizz Beatz.
In 2008, he received credit for production on a Nipsey Hussle tune. After temporarily going by Rockstar, Collins started rapping when he was 22. Collins's debut official mixtape, World Tour, was released on February 1, 2010. The mixtape's success helped bring recognition to DJ Ill Will, the man behind the radio program HotNewHipHop. Later, he joined his record label, 88 Classic, a subsidiary of Tha Alumni Group.
Collins used the stage moniker Kid Ink as a gesture of gratitude toward DJ Rockstar, with whom he shared a record label. Collins's second mixtape, titled Crash Landing, was published in 2011. In addition to Roscoe Dash and Ty Dolla Sign, the mixtape also features Meek Mill. Ink dropped his third mixtape, Daydreamer, for digital download in the summer of 2011.
