David Anthony Love Jr. (February 7, 1967) is an American rapper and DJ. He is professionally known by his stage name, Kid Capri. He was born in New York City. Kid Capri, winner of multiple Grammy Awards as both a DJ and a producer, is universally recognized as a forefather of the DJ culture we know and love today. His street-level hustler mentality inspired many successful DJs to follow his tracks.
Kid Capri, also known as "The Guru of Mixtapes" for his groundbreaking mixtapes and performances, revolutionized the DJ industry and ushered in a new era. BET and VH1 have never before hosted a DJ like Kid Capri. The original HBO series and the 25th anniversary special of Def Comedy Jam on Netflix featured him as a main cast member. Capri has worked with several famous artists as a music producer, including Snoop Dogg, Madonna, Heavy D, and 50 Cent. He's been on the road for a long time with big names like Diddy, Jay Z, Aaliyah, Salt-N-Peppa, Timbaland, and RBRM.
Award-winning producer Kid received recognition for his work on Jay-Hard Z's Knock Life album. No Kid'n Records was a record label with which Kid Capri was associated. During an appearance on the itshiphop.tv show The Breakdown, he discussed his past and future endeavors, his thoughts on the state of hip hop in Japan, and the decision to create his moniker. Kid Capri served as the night's DJ at Rakim's Rock the Bells 2007 event on July 29, 2007.
