Kevin Eubanks Information
Kevin Eubanks (November 15, 1957) is an American jazz and fusion composer and guitarist. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The New York jazz scene welcomed Eubanks with open arms, and he soon found himself sharing the stage with legends like Art Blakey (1980–1981), Roy Haynes, Slide Hampton, and Sam Rivers. A sibling of Robin, the bassist, he has also recorded with Dave Holland on the double bass.
In 1983, he established his quartet and toured Jordan, Pakistan, and India on a U.S. State Department-funded tour while continuing to perform with others. Eubanks was a guest on the George Lucas Talk Show's marathon fundraiser show from Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip in 2020. Eubanks rejoined Leno's team in the autumn of 2021 when they both took roles as hosts of the game show You Bet Your Life.
At 25, Eubanks issued Guitarist on the Elektra label as his debut as a band leader. As a result, he signed a seven-album deal with GRP and a four-album deal with Blue Note. Eubanks has played on over a hundred recordings. He has issued six albums since launching his label, Insoul Music, in 2001.
A member of The Tonight Show Band on guitar, Eubanks relocated to the West Coast in 1992. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno's signature outro song, "Kevin's Country," was written by him. He took over as bandleader in 1995 after Branford Marsalis left.
