Kenny Beats Information
Kenneth Charles Blume III (May 10, 1991) is an American songwriter, record producer, and audio engineer. He was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, and is professionally known by his stage name, Kenny Beats. Beats began studying music at nine years old when he played the guitar. When he was eleven, he began playing the drums. As a sophomore in high school, he began producing music. A Fender Stratocaster was his first guitar, while a Fender Hot-Rod Deluxe was his first amplifier.
After completing high school, he moved to New York and began interning for Cinematic Music Group in the summer of 2010. During his apprenticeship at CMG, he worked with musician Smoke DZA on four of his albums. It was also in 2010 that his music caught the notice of Levi Maestro, which led to their collaboration on a Brisk commercial campaign. After spending some time in New York, he moved to Boston, where he studied Jazz Guitar and Music Business at Berklee College of Music.
Kenny's producing approach isn't consistent. Ableton Live is his preferred digital audio workstation (DAW). He plays piano, bass guitar, electric guitar, and drums, and his instrumentals frequently include live instrumentation, whether performed by him or by another instrumentalist. Kenny met Ryan Marks, a DJ, while attending Berklee College of Music in 2009. They became friends and decided to form the EDM duo Loudpvck in 2012.
