Kelly Lee Owens Information
Kelly Lee Owens (August 24, 1988) is a Welsh electronic musician and producer. Owens was born in the North Wales town of Rhuddlan, in the county of Flintshire. She sang in the school choir and played bass and drums as a youngster. She started working as a waiter at 14 and spent her adolescent years "engaged in the 2006/2007 indie scene." Owens came from Wales to Manchester at the age of 19 to work in a cancer treatment center. Owens used her paid leave from her job as an auxiliary nurse to volunteer at local independent events. It was the patients who eventually persuaded her to pursue her dream of becoming a musician.
Owens left her job as an auxiliary nurse in a Manchester cancer unit in 2009 to pursue music. After relocating to London, she interned at XL Recordings and worked at numerous record stores, including Pure Groove. Owens was a member of the indie band The History of Apple Pie at the time.
Kelly Lee Owens, Owens' self-titled debut album, was released in March 2017 by the Norwegian label Smalltown Supersound. "Arthur," which was a second single of the album. Kelly Lee Owens is a memorial to the late Arthur Russell.
Owens has worked with St. Vincent, remixing his hit "New York" from the album Masseduction. She also worked with Björk on an EP dedicated to "Arisen My Senses" remixes from her album Utopia and John Cale on the tune "Corner of My Sky" from her upcoming album Inner Song, which was released on August 28, 2020.
