Katherine Nicole Pruitt (March 4, 1994) is an American songwriter and singer based in Nashville, Tennessee, and was born in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2020, she released her debut album entitled “Expectations” on Rounder Records. Pruitt grew up in a Catholic family and began to sing as a child in different musical theatre productions. While attending community college, she was singing at open mic nights in Athens, Georgia. For further studies, Pruitt attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she also received the first annual “Nashville Songwriting Scholarship” from the BMI Foundation.
Pruitt was awarded the “Buddy Holly Prize” in 2017 from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. After this significant achievement, she signed a record deal with Round Hill Records. In March 2018, Pruitt released an extended play entitled “OurVinyl Live Session EP.” Rolling Stone named Pruitt one of 10 new country artists that you need to know. She also released a single entitled “Expectations” on September 13, 2019.
Pruitt released a few more singles since such as “Loving Her” (October 21, 2019) and “Out Of The Blue” on November 15, 2019. Her musical inspiration is Brandi Carlile. Her music portrays the complex coming-of-age that questions religious faith and toxic relationships.
