Karla Bonoff Information
Karla Bonoff (December 27, 1951) is an American singer-songwriter from Santa Monica, California, named after her paternal grandfather Karl. Bonoff’s music is defined as folk-rock, soft rock, and pop-rock. Her singing career began as a background vocalist for Ronstadt and Wendy Waldman. Her debut album was released in 1977 and was entitled Karla Bonoff. This was followed by some more studio albums, including Restless Nights (1979), New World (1988), Wild Heart of the Young (1982), and All My Life (1999).
Bonoff is famous as a songwriter but also produced many hit recordings such as “Personally.” The track reached number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 3 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Bonoff recorded the song “Somebody’s Eyes” for the Footloose (1984) soundtrack and the song “Standing Right Next To Me” for the 8 Seconds soundtrack in 1994.
Bonoff was also a member of the group Bryndle, which included Kenny Edwards, Wendy Waldman, and Andrew Gold until he left in 1996. The group was founded in the late 1960s though they did not release any albums for roughly 20 years.
Bonoff was also sighted on the Keiko Matsui album entitled ‘Sapphire.’ She continues her touring schedule throughout the US and Japan. A few of her notable singles are “Please Be the One,” “Baby Don’t Go,” “I Can’t Hold On,” and “When You Walk in the Room.”
