Jorge Drexler Information
Jorge Abner Drexler Prada is an Uruguayan doctor specializing in otolaryngology, as well as an actor and musician. He was born in Montevideo. At only five years old, he began playing the piano before he attended guitar and composition classes. Drexler also went on to study music and recorded two albums that were released in Uruguay.
Drexler was invited by Joaquin Sabina, a well-known Spanish songwriter, to Madrid in 1995. She introduced him to a few other Spanish singers. In 1996, Dexler went to Spain and recorded his album “Valven.” The album included some of the amazing old hits as well as new mixed compositions from his previous releases. Later on, he recorded four notable albums of his career; Eco (2004), Sea (2001), Frontera (1999), and Llueve (1997).
Drexler has also co-written a few songs for the Spanish singer Rosario Flores entitled “Agua y Sal” and “Rosa y Miel.” The songs were recorded for the album “Muchas Flores.” One of the Dexler’s songs appeared on the internationally acclaimed film entitled “The Motorcycle Diaries.” Other popular discographies include La Luz Que Sabe Robar (1992), Radar (1994), Sea (2001), 12 Segundos de Oscuridad (2006), Cara B (2008), Amar la Trama (2010), Bailar en la Cueva (2014), and Salvavidas de Hielo (2017).
Drexler has been awarded numerous times for his work. He is a five-time Grammy Awards nominee and has also won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
