Jimmie's Chicken Shack Information
Jimmie's Chicken Shack is an Annapolis, Maryland-based alternative rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Matt Jones, Jerome Maffeo, Jimi Haha, Island Styles, and Christian Valiente.
They are best known for their hit Do Right, released in 1999 as part of their album Bring Your Own Stereo. They signed with Elton John's Rocket Records in 1996 and produced two major-label albums, Pushing the Salmanilla Envelope and Bring Your Own Stereo, in 1997. Both albums had a minor chart, radio, and MTV success and yielded "High" and "Do Right," which became their most well-known successes. Following that, the band self-released two additional albums, Re. Present and Fail on Cue.
After being together for six months, Mark Strazza recorded Chicken Scratch for $600 at Hound Sound in Baltimore in 1993. It was only available as a cassette. Mike Forjione filmed Spit Burger Lottery for $400 at The Mansion in Annapolis in 1994. It was only available as a cassette. In 1995, 2 For 1 was released on CD. Both cassettes were taken and included on the band's first CD.
It was recorded by their soundman, Jamie Rephann, who would subsequently work with bands like Join 311, Jane's Addiction, and ZZ Top. It was released at a sold-out event at Baltimore's Hammerjacks. It was released on Jimi Haha's Fowl Records, which he founded. "High," "Blood," "Another Day," "Dropping Anchor," "Do Right," "Trash," and "Falling Out" are some of the band's best-known singles.
