Jeffrey Osborne Information
Jeffrey Linton Osborne (March 9, 1948) is an American lyricist, singer, songwriter, and musician. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island. Osborne started his musical career in 1970 when he joined the American soul band Love Men Ltd., better known today as simply L.T.D. Osborne's "I Just Want to Be Your Friend" was featured as the film's intro music in the 1982 comedy The Toy.
The songs "On the Wings of Love" and "I Really Don't Need No Light" were huge hits when Osborne released his self-titled debut album in 1982. A succession of albums released in the new millennium saw him return to Adult R&B radio with modest chart singles, including "Rest of Our Lives" (No. 75, 2003) and "Yes, I'm Ready" (No. 64, 2005), covering songs originally recorded by Barbara Mason.
Osborne sang the national anthem before Game 4 of the 2008 NBA Finals at Staples Center in Los Angeles. He did the same thing before Game 1 of the 2009 NBA Finals and again before Game 1 of the 2010 NBA Finals, all at Staples Center.
Before Hartford Whalers games, he would also sing the national anthem. The season finale of The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love aired on March 1, 2010, and featured Osborne performing his hit song "On the Wings of Love" while Jake Pavelka danced with his newly engaged fiancee, Vienna Girardi.
