Jeffrey Gaines is an American songwriter-singer and guitarist who was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In 1990, Gaines signed to Chrysalis Records and released his debut album entitled “Jeffrey Gaines” in 1992. One of the singles from his debut album, “Hero in Me,” was performed live on Good Morning America. The song received some MTV and radio play as well. His second single, “Scares Me More,” featured Peter Gabriel’s acoustic live version entitled “In Your Eyes.”
In 2001, Gaines re-recorded both studio and live versions of “In Your Eyes.” The song was released to the radio and hit number 22 in the U.S. Adult Top 40 chart. Additionally, he took part as one of the artists who were invited to contribute in the vocals to the benefit CD entitled “We Are Family,” produced by Nile Rodgers. The single peaked at number 9 on Billboard’s Hot Singles Sales chart in late 2001. Furthermore, it reached number 32 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart in early 2002.
Gaines has performed live on different television shows such as Breakfast with the Arts of A&E, Friday Night Videos, VH-1, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. He has toured with other artists, including Edwin McCain, Shawn Colvin, Joe Jackson, The Bacon Brothers, Stevie Nicks, and a few more. Gaines’ all-time released studio albums are Somewhat Slightly Dazed (1992), Galore (1998), Always Be (2001), Toward the Sun (2003), Jeffrey Gaines Live (2004), and Alright (2018).
