Jason Lytle Information
Jason Lytle (March 26, 1969) is an American musician from Modesto, California, best known for his work on the indie rock band called “Grandaddy.” The group split in 2005, but Lytle continued releasing music as a solo artist and collaborated with other musicians. He played the drums as a child after becoming a fan of music at an early age.
Lytle began a skateboarding career, but he experienced a career-ending injury that led him to return to music. Gradually, Lytle came up with Grandaddy and signed a record deal with V2 Records. He released several albums and toured the world. He eventually got tired of the rock and roll lifestyle and decided to record much of the band’s final album “Just Like the Fambly Cat.” After switching between different bands and collaborations, Lytle took an interest in a solo career.
On May 19, 2009, Lytle released his debut album entitled “Yours Truly, the Commuter.” The album was released on the ANTI label while he independently released an EP of seven improvised piano recordings as a “Christmas gift” to fans in 2009. Lytle released many other notable albums with Grandaddy, including A Pretty Mess by This Own Band, Under the Western Freeway, Sumday, and a few more. His solo albums include Music Meant to Accompany the Art of Ron Cameron (2010), Dept. of Disappearance (2012), House Show (2014), and Arthur King Presents Jason Lytle: NYLONANDJUNO (2019).
