Jamestown Revival Information
Jamestown Revival is an American rock group formed by Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance, childhood friends. The current lineup consists of Zach Chance (piano and vocals), Jonathan Clay (guitar and vocals), Ed Benrock (drums), Nick Bearden (bass), Dan Reckard (organ and keys), and Preston Wimberley (guitar). The duo originated in Magnolia, Texas, where they grew up together and collaborated on their first song at 15. Clay and Chance also launched their solo singing and songwriting careers soon after.
The two eventually decided to form a band as they were getting positive responses from the audience on their combined performances. In 2010, Jamestown Revival was formed as a duo and then expanded. The name of the band “Jamestown Revivals” came from one of the first United States settlements, Jamestown, Virginia, an homage to Creedence Clearwater Revival.
The duo took its music inspirations from storytellers of adventure such as John Prine, Louis L’Amour, and Willie Nelson. They also picked simplicity and nature as their inspiration for music. Jamestown Revival released its debut album entitled Utah in 2014. The album was given this name after it was recorded in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah.
Jamestown Revival writes songs about everyday life, a combination of harmonies that also merges Southern country. The band has worked with Republic Records and Thirty Tigers to release their projects. The duo has been featured in Rolling Stone magazine and has been covered by the Wall Street Journal. They have made notable appearances in several festivals in the United States, including Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and Austin City Limits Music.
