J Alvarez Information
Javid David Alvarez Fernandez (December 13, 1983) is a Puerto Rican reggaeton singer. Javid was born in the city of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. When Alvarez was 12 years old, he performed his debut song, "Lo Que Ella Trae," in front of several classmates and professors (What She Brings). He grew up listening to many reggaeton and hip hop artists, and Tego Calderon and Busta Rhymes influenced his work. Then he met DJ Nelson through his cousin, and the two quickly developed working chemistry. In 2009, he was signed to Flow Music.
His debut studio album, Otro Nivel De Musica, was released on September 20, 2011, and included the smash singles "La Pregunta" and "Junto Al Amanecer," both of which appeared on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and were the singer's first chart appearances. Otro Nivel De Musica Reloaded, a special edition of the album, was released on May 1, 2012. This album garnered a lot of positive feedback from fans, and it was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Music Album in 2012.
Big Yauran, which he released in September 2016, reached number 8 on the Top Latin Rhythm Albums chart. In addition, "Haters," one of the album's tracks, peaked on Hot Latin Songs. He released an album called La Fama Que Camina in 2018, which had hit tracks including "Esa Boquita" and "De La Mia Personal." The Recording Industry Association of America certified "De La Mia Personal" gold/platinum in November 2018.
