Illscarlett Information
IllScarlett is a Canadian reggae and rock band. The current lineup of the group consists of Alex Norman, Swavek Piorkowski, CJ Hinds, and Jake Robertson. Swavek Piorkowski (drums) and Alex Norman (vocals/guitar) met at Iona Catholic Secondary School in the Clarkson neighborhood of Mississauga, Ontario, and eventually founded the band illScarlett. At about the same time, Norman was employed at a skating shop in a nearby shopping center.
When Norman mistook a customer named Daniel Krolikowski for Sum 41 bassist Jason "Cone" McCaslin, Norman approached Krolikowski and learned, to his surprise, that Krolikowski, like himself, played bass guitar. Once they hit it off, the duo started playing music with Piorkowski. illScarlett's first tape, titled "Five Dollar Demo," was recorded after the band had played numerous shows at smaller locations.
The recording session for the demo took place at Ontario's Metalworks Studios in Mississauga. The band's debut album, iLLP, was released in 2004. The band played at the parking lot of the 2004 Vans Warped Tour stop in Barrie, Ontario, not long after the release of ILLP. The band's second studio album, 1UP!, was released on September 29, 2009, after All Day with It. Singles like "Take it for Granted" and "Milkshakes & Razorblades" were released from this album.
