Hot Water Music Information
Hot Water Music is a 1993 Gainesville, Florida-based American rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Chris Cresswell, George Rebelo, Jason Black, Chris Wollard, and Chuck Ragan. Ragan, Black, and Rebelo first met in Sarasota, Florida. In high school, Black and Rebelo were in jazz ensembles together. Ragan and Rebelo met while working at restaurants on the same street, and the intersection became a popular hangout for Sarasota musicians. Wollard met the other three at a storage facility that was regularly utilized as a practice location for both Sarasota and Bradenton bands because he was stationed in Bradenton.
The band's first two LPs, Fuel for the Hate Game and Forever and Counting, were released in 1997 under the temporary moniker The Hot Water Music Band due to legal concerns on the part of the band's label Doghouse Records regarding an unrelated record titled Hot Water Music by Elektra Records band Hot Water that same year.
Following a final gig at the Hardback Cafe in Gainesville, the band revealed that they would be parting after two years of relentless traveling had drained the band's members and strained their relationships. Hot Water Music signed to Epitaph Records after releasing No Division on No Idea Records in 1999 and released three more albums, A Flight and a Crash in 2001, Caution in 2002, and The New What Next in 2005, before disbanding in 2005.
