Holy Wave Information
Holy Wave is defined as the deadly psychedelic combo that belongs to Texas. The band was founded by multi-instrumentalists Kyle Hager and Julián Ruiz in 2008. They decided to move from their hometown El Paso to Austin for a better musical environment. Soon they joined Joey Cook, Ryan Fuson, and Dustin Zozaya and created the lineup for Holy Wave. Together, they developed a unique sound consisting of rock, garage rock, and glazed-over psychedelic genres.
Holy Wave released its first discography, entitled Knife Hits. It is an LP that came out in 2011. The band was already a regular guest at the annual Austin Psych Fest during this time. Later on, the band members add more vintage synths to the mix. In 2012, the group released an extended play named The Evil Has Landed. The first two released by the band were combined in a collection called Evil Hits, which came out in 2013.
Holy Wave spent a lot of time honing their sound while touring. They added more layers and droned on dreamlike reverb. In 2014 came their second full-length album entitled Relax. The album was released due to a partnership between the Reverberation Appreciation Society and Burger Records. The Evil Has Landed, Pt. 2 was released in 2015. It is a collection of demos for their next LP, Freaks of Nurture, as well as the B-sides from Relax. The famous Reverberation Appreciation Society issued it.
Holy Wave performed at the Levitation Festival in early 2017 (Austin). They also spent the year touring with Hope Sandoval. In July 2020, the band released another album named Interloper.
