Hawksley Workman Information
Hawksley Workman (March 4, 1975) is a Canadian rock singer and songwriter. He was born in Huntsville, the Muskoka region of Ontario. Later on, Workman went to the Almaguin Highlands Secondary School and Huntsville High School. Later, he relocated to Toronto, Ontario, to pursue his musical career. He began using the stage name Hawksley Workman instead of his given name, Ryan Corrigan, at that point. He began recording in the front entry of a friend's studio, then relocated to "the basement of a friend's recently deceased grandmother on Hillsdale Avenue."
Hawksley Workman engineered and produced records for various musicians in that facility. During this time, he collaborated with various artists, which aided in the development of his early producing skills. Hawksley Workman's first album was released in 1999 on his label, Isadora Records, and in Europe through Loose Music. His debut album drew him comparisons to Tom Waits, Rheostatics, and Harry Nilsson for Him and the Girls.
Workman collaborated on the album Chrome Reflection in 2000, ascribed to a band called Bird, which included fellow Canadians Jason Collett and Andrew Cash. The album also included performances by the majority of Workman's live bands at the time. Almost a Full Moon, an EP of self-penned Christmas songs, was released in 2001.
