Grupo Frontera Information
Grupo Frontera is an American band that hails from Edinburg, Texas. Adelaido "Payo" Sols III plays the bajo quinto and sings in the group along with Juan Javier Cant, Julian Pea Jr., Alberto "Beto" Acosta, Carlos Guerrero, and Carlos Zamora (sings and plays the accordion and congas).
The band started domestically recording in 2019, and since then, it has released covers of Latin pop and norteo tunes. By the end of 2022, a cover of Morat's "No Se Va" had reached the charts due to widespread video viewing on YouTube and TikTok.
Their first Top 40 song, "Bebé Dame," a collaboration with Fuerza Regida, peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 2022. It also reached the top of the Billboard Hot Latin Songs charts.
The Bad Bunny collaboration "Un x100to" gave the group its first top-five song on the Billboard Hot 100 by May 2023. Grupo Frontera responded by announcing a 23-date tour in the middle of 2023. According to a Billboard article, the band's success was crucial to developing the indigenous Mexican genre.
The band became well-known for its norteo cumbias. Still, after releasing their full-length first album in August 2023, they demonstrated their ability to explore different regional Mexican genres outside the genre.
