Grupo Bronco Information
Bronco is a Mexican grupero band. The current lineup comprises Jose Guadalupe Esparza, Jose Adan Esparza, Rene Esparza, Arsenio Guajardo, and Javier Cantú. They recorded "Quiero Decirte" for Fama, their first full-length album. Manuel Caballero served as drummer for this only production before he left the group. Aurelio, Esparza's brother, played percussion. By 1987, the band had become well-known in Nuevo León and had been invited to Monterrey's Salon la Fama.
They first played in New York in February of 1997 as part of their farewell tour, which they announced in January 1997. Following Arturo Gonzales's last game with the Monterrey Sultans before retiring from baseball in 2003, the band members announced their return to the public in May of that year as El Gigante de America.
"Estoy a Punto" was already recorded by the band and was set to be the lead single for their next album. In the summer of 2003, they returned with the album Siempre Arriba and a short tour. A legal battle over the trademarked band name prevented them from using Bronco in Mexico again, even though they intended to do so. Their former manager was involved in the matter. Since their fans had dubbed them El Gigante de America while playing as Bronco, they decided to use that name going forward.
