G3 Information
Joe Satriani, a guitarist, has put up a performance tour called G3 that features himself and two additional guitarists. From Steve Vai (Satriani's former student) to Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, Robert Fripp, Paul Gilbert, Steve Morse, and many more, G3 has featured a wide variety of guitarists on its tours since its founding in 1995.
In 1996, they went on their first tour. Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson went on a North American tour called G3. The dates of the performances were October 11 through November 8, 1996. The show began with performances by Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Adrian Legg. Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, and Joe Satriani were the three guitarists on the G3 tour 2007. Performances took place between March 14 and April 14. While performing the song "Glasgow Kiss" at the tour's final show, Paul Gilbert's band stepped out onstage dressed in kilts and performed a brief dance.
At the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts, Johnny A. performed for the G3 Jam. Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Steve Lukather toured in 2012 as G3. Steve Morricone toured in Europe. In 2016, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and the Aristocrats embarked on the G3 tour. From July 2, 2016, until July 13, 2016, performances occurred in numerous places across Italy and Germany. John Petrucci, Uli Jon Roth in Europe/Phil Collen in the States, and Joe Satriani were the headliners of the G3 2018 tour.
