Fu Manchu Information
Fu Manchu is an American rock band founded in 1985, originating from Southern California (Orange County), and is long-associated with the Palm Desert Scene. The band was originally formed as a hardcore punk band named Virulence. The current line up Fu Manchu consists of Scott Hill – guitar and vocals; Brad Davis – bass and vocals; Bob Balch – guitar; and Scott Reeder – drums and vocals. Some of the band's former members are Ruben Romano – drums and vocals; Mark Abshire – bass and vocals; and Greg McCaughey – bass.
Fu Manchu recorded its debut LP entitled If This Isn't a Dream... in 1988. The LP was released in 1989 on Alchemy Records. It was followed by a 7 inch single on Slap A Ham Records entitled "Kept Between Trees." Some of the other 7 inch singles by the band are "Senioritis,” "Pick Up Summer,” and "Don't Bother Knockin' (If This Vans Rockin')."
Fu Manchu released its first album entitled No One Rides for Free in 1994. Bong Load Custom Records released the album. Some of the other notable studio albums by the band are Daredevil LP/CD (1995), In Search Of... LP/CD (1996), The Action Is Go LP/CD (1997), Godzilla's/Eatin' Dust (1999), King of the Road LP/CD (2000), California Crossing LP/CD (2001), and the list goes on. Fu Manchu also released a compilation and live albums entitled Return to Earth 91-93 LP/CD (1998) and Go for It... Live! LP/CD (2003).
