Fred Hammond Information
Frederick William Hammond (December 27, 1960) is an American record producer, bass guitar player, and gospel singer. He is considered one of the most popular singers in contemporary gospel music. Hammond is also known for using different styles in his music, such as disco, hip-hop, and R&B. He has been active both as a solo artist and a member of the gospel performing group, Commissioned. Hammond has won several Stellar, Dove, and Grammy awards and has been nominated as a writer, producer, and performer countless times.
For the first in his career, Hammond gained recognition while playing bass guitar for the gospel group The Winans. He was one of the six original members of the group, Commissioned, by 1985, participated in 10 out of 12 albums of the group’s albums. His time with the group eventually ended, but Hammond regained popularity in the gospel community after selling millions of albums with his musical group Radical For Christ.
Hammond returned to Commissioned to produce their Commissioned Reunion Live album in 2002. He has also produced a gospel ballad entitled “Make Me Like the Moon.” Kenny Lattimore and Chante Moore co-wrote it for their double CD of R&B and gospel love songs in 2006 entitled, Uncovered/Covered.
Hammond has released several albums throughout his career. Some of them are Christmas…Just Remember (March 6, 2001), Speak Those Things: POL Chapter 3 (September 9, 2003), and plenty of others.
