Frank Orrall Information
Frank Orrall is the Hawaiian-Ocean-based singer, percussionist, and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known as the founder and frontman of the Soul and ‘Acous-tronic’ Rock group called Poi Dog Pondering. He also performs as a singer and percussionist of D.C. Other side projects of Orrall include “8fatfat8, Mourning Doves, and Palm Fabric Orchestra.
Orrall is the son of a folk singer; he began recording a series of homemade solo cassette albums out of his bedroom in 1984. He released them at local record stores around Honolulu and Southern California, under the moniker Poi Dog Pondering, after learning guitar from his mother and developing a love of poetry and nature from his father.
Orrall also hosts a solo show entitled “The Suitcase Show,” a combination of unique Audio and Video backing tracks, various instruments, stories, and much more. Orrall has lived between Chicago, Austin Tx, New York, San Francisco, and Honolulu throughout his life.
Orrall’s notable singles include “Big Constellation,” “This Night Has Opened My Eyes,” “Everything Breaks,” “Pulling Touch,” and “Living With the Dreaming Body.”
