Formula Drift Information
The Formula DRIFT series, which is often referred to as Formula D or FD, is a motorsport drifting competition that takes place in the U.S. Formula DRIFT was established in 2003 by Jim Liaw and Ryan Sage as a sister business to Slipstream Global Marketing. This cooperation was responsible for bringing the D1 Grand Prix to the U.S.
In North America, the new corporation would be entirely responsible for the ownership, operation, and introduction of the first official drifting series. There is no connection between Formula DRIFT and the Formula Racing Championships that the FIA organizes.
As of October 2023, Formula DRIFT has 81 licensed drivers racing in the PRO and PROSPEC (formerly known as PRO 2) categories. The series comprises a championship carried out at race tracks located all across North America and comprises eight rounds. Instead of focusing on who completes the course quickly, Formula DRIFT judges consider the driver's line, angle, and flair.
