Eric Lindell Information
Eric Lindell (1969) is an American singer and songwriter. Lindell is a native of the Bay Area. By 15, he was already performing with various bands. Fishbone and Black Flag were two bands that influenced him when he was young. While supporting himself as a baker by day, Lindell began playing in pubs and clubs across Northern California, initially on guitar and switching to bass. After a while, he uprooted to the Big Apple, only to eventually settle in the Big Easy by 1999.
He became well-known in the New Orleans music scene by 2005, performing at local bars and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. He shared the bill with Galactic's Stanton Moore and Ivan Neville, with whom he now occasionally plays in a side group called Dragon Smoke. The publicity led to him being signed by alligator records.
Change in the Weather, a compilation of music from Lindell's several self-produced albums and EPs, some of which were published on his own Sparco Records label, was Alligator's first release. Notable examples are the self-titled album and Piety Street Sessions, which feature the talents of drummer Marty Joyce, bassist Cass Faulconer, and keyboardist Marc Adams. The radio song "Give It Time," taken from Change in the Weather, was widely played on adult album alternative-formatted stations across the country and was even used in a Boston Legal episode.
