Enanitos Verdes Information
Established in 1979 in Mendoza, Argentina, Enanitos Verdes is a rock group from Argentina. Their 1979 tour took them all across the Cuyo region. In subsequent sessions, they went to Buenos Aires to tape a demo, but the final product was useless and never released. They persisted with performances in Mendoza and Buenos Aires despite this setback. They signed with EMI Latin and released the "Big Bang" album in 1994. Included on the record, which became a smashing success worldwide, is "Lamento Boliviano," arguably their most famous song.
Alejandra Guzmán joined them on tour in 2003. Their accomplishments at the Festival de Viña del Mar in Chile include, among other things, being awarded a Gaviota de Plata (Silver Gull). "Amores Lejanos" was the lead single from their album Amores Lejanos, recorded in the same year. The group's original drummer, Daniel Piccolo, departed in 2009. His replacement was Jota Morelli of Fito Paez's band.
On February 17, 2011, ex-guitarist Sergio Embrioni took his own life. This tragedy did not deter the band, and in 2018, they toured the US with the Spanish group Hombres G. After a kidney operation in a private hospital in his birthplace of Mendoza, Argentina, on September 8, 2022, frontman and lyricist for Enanitos Verdes Marciano Cantero passed away in the afternoon at 62 years old.
