DuPont Brass Information
The Greater Washington area is home to DuPont Brass, a one-of-a-kind ensemble propelled by brass instruments. They started as a group of five Howard University music students struggling to make ends meet by performing a Christmas concert to garner donations for their school. Today, the group has expanded to include a full brass section, a full rhythm section, and four singers. After getting their start performing in Metro stations, the band DuPont Brass expanded into a professional gigging existence, playing at local weddings, banquets, and other private parties.
The Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, the Washington Performing Arts Society, and the D.C. Jazz Festival have all hosted performances by DuPont Brass. DuPont Brass has been featured in the Washington Post Newspaper six times and on WPFW's "Live at Five" three times because their inspiring stories keep reaching the hearts of the community. They recently debuted on WHUT's "DMV the Beat," a PBS program that airs in the area.
DuPont Brass, having studied both traditional and modern music, has created a style they call "Eclectic Soul," which fuses jazz, hip hop, and R&B. With their most recent release, Music Education, DuPont Brass proves they have what it takes to be successful in both the music education and performance fields. They offer a collection created to please every type of music fan.
