DRI - Dirty Rotten Imbeciles Information
Dirty Rotten Imbeciles (or DRI) is an American crossover thrash band founded in Houston, Texas, in 1982. The current lineup of the band only has two founding members remaining; guitarist Spike Cassidy and vocalist Kurt Brecht, with bass player Greg Orr and drummer Rob Rampy completing the group these days. The music of Dirty Rotten Imbeciles is defined as crossover thrash, thrash metal, hardcore punk, and thrash-core.
Dirty Rotten Imbeciles started practicing at Kurt and Eric's parents' home, but Kurt and Eric's father started complaining about the noise. This complaint made them gain their name as they were defined as "a bunch of dirty rotten imbeciles." The group played their first show at Joe Star's OMNI, in Houston on July 2, 1982. The Dirty Rotten EP was the first release by the band, which came out in 1983.
Dirty Rotten Imbeciles released a four-song 7" EP Violent Pacification in 1984. Other full-length albums followed it, Dealing with It! (1985), Crossover (1987), 4 of a Kind (1988), Thrash Zone (1989), Definition (1992), and Full Speed Ahead (1995). Two of the live albums by the band are Live (1994) and Live at CBGB's 1984 (2005). Dirty Rotten Imbeciles released three EPs entitled Violent Pacification 1984, The Dirty Rotten Power 2001, and But Wait... There's More! 2016, while Greatest Hits is the only compilation album by the group.
