Doc Watkins (June 11, 1981) is an American singer, composer, producer, radio host, bandleader, and pianist from San Antonio, TX. He was born Brent Watkins in Oregon and moved to Austin, TX in 2003. He earned a Master's Degree and Ph.D. in music from the University of Texas. Watkins' music is defined as jazz and Texas Swing, and he is the creator and co-host of the weekly radio program named Live at Jazz, TX. The show is currently running its third season and has featured interviews and performances by notable artists such as Kenny Garrett, Kevin Eubanks, Jane Monheit, and Marcia Ball.
Watkins is also the founder and owner of Jazz, TX, a restaurant and performance venue located in the Historic Pearl Brewery Complex in San Antonio. Watkins performs at the venue weekly along with his Orchestra. He has also performed with Landau Eugene Murphy Jr, Bijon Watson, Herlin Riley, Kevin Eubanks, Bijon Watson, Leon Hughes, Butch Miles, Jim Cullum, Ephraim Owens, and Stan Mark.
Some of his notable discographies include 2011 – Live from Bohanan's, 2014 – The Outlaw, 2015 – A Willie Nelson Tribute, 2015 – Swinging from San Antonio, 2015 – Doc Watkins and his Orchestra (EP), and 2018 – Christmas in Jazz, TX.
