Dizzy Reed Information
Darren Arthur Reed (June 18, 1963) is an American musician and actor from Hinsdale, Illinois. Reed’s music is defined as heavy metal and hard rock. He was raised in Colorado and learned to play the organ from his grandmother. After he completed elementary school, Reed founded many small local bands and started his professional career in Los Angeles. It is here that Reed was a founding member of the club band named The Wild. The group was founded in the late 1980s, and Reed was a member for five straight years.
In 1985, Reed met the classic lineup of Guns N’ Roses when his band was rehearsing in a neighboring studio. In 1990, he was invited by friend Axl Rose to join the group and record two albums. Soon Reed became a notable member of Guns N’ Roses due to his piano, keyboard, and backing vocals during the live performances. Some of the notable music videos where Reed’s work can be seen are “Live and Let Die,” “Estranged,” “Garden of Eden,” “Don’t Damn Me,” “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door,” “Get in the Ring,” and “Locomotive.”
Apart from Guns N’ Roses, Reed also played on albums for his former bandmates, such as Duff McKagan, Slash, and Gilby Clarke. He released his debut solo album entitled Rock’ n Roll Ain’t Easy on February 16, 2018. Some of his notable guest appearances are on It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere, Not What I Had Planned, Village Gorilla Head, Spirit of Christmas, The Still Life, and Backyard Babies.
