Dave Koz Information
David Stephen Koz (March 27, 1963) is an American saxophonist, songwriter, record producer, and radio host born in Encino, California. After deciding to become a professional musician, he joined Bobby Caldwell's tour within a few weeks. Koz was a successful rock saxophonist before switching to smooth jazz in 1989. Koz spent the rest of the 1980s touring with Jeff Lorber and working as a studio musician for other rock bands.
After signing with Capitol Records, Koz embarked on a solo career in 1989. He released his first solo album, Dave Koz (1990), and subsequent albums like Lucky Man, The Dance, and Saxophonic in the upcoming years. Both the Grammys and the NAACP Image Awards picked Saxophonic for a nomination.
Koz was given the big star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 22, 2009. Together with Seal Beach's Spaghettini owners Cary Hardwick and Laurie Sisneros, he established Spaghettini & the Dave Koz Lounge at 184 North Canon Drive in Beverly Hills, California, in December 2014.
In 2018, Koz recorded two songs ("The Optimist" and "Friends at Sea") with guitarist and frequent Vulfpeck musician Cory Wong. Once again teaming together in 2021, the duo recorded "Today" for the album The Golden Hour.
Koz teamed up with singer-songwriter Ben Rector on a song called "Supernatural" on Rector's 2022 album, Joy of Music.
