Dave Babcock, an award-winning artist from Edmonton, lives a full musical life with the kind of quiet assurance that only an artist of his skill and experience can have. His passionate saxophone performance, rooted in the vibrant jazz and blues traditions, has garnered him acclaim as one of Canada's finest musicians for over three decades. Dave plays various instruments, sings, leads bands, produces records, directs bands, and even conducts clinics. He has been a first-call session player for artists and producers alike, and his playing has been featured in concert halls, live venues, and music festivals across Canada.
Dave has shared the stage with such jazz greats as Tommy Banks, Big Miller, PJ Perry, the Edmonton Jazz Orchestra, the Yardbird Suite All Stars, and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra throughout his career. Canadian music stars Tom Cochrane, k.d. lang, Lighthouse, and Alfie Zappacosta shared the stage with Dave. He has shared the stage with such R&B greats as The Coasters and The Platters, Motown stalwarts like The Temptations, Martha & The Vandellas, and Mary Wilson of The Supremes. Dave has also collaborated with a 3D hologram of Roy Orbison and international stars, including Glen Campbell, Petula Clark, Don Rickles, and Frank Sinatra Jr.
Dave's talent and drive made him a sought-after member of Edmonton's thriving music scene when he graduated from MacEwan University's Faculty of Music in 1982. He was able to parlay this popularity into the recording studio, where he has since contributed to dozens of albums.
