Crystal Bowersox Information
Crystal Lynn Bowersox (August 4, 1985) is an American songwriter, singer, and actress who was born in Elliston, Ohio. She was in the school choir and played flute in the school marching band. Bowersox began appearing in a few local bars, including The Village Idiot in Marnee, Ohio, and Papa’s Tavern. Bowersox relocated to Chicago at the age of 17, and in Chicago, played music as a busker at train stations. She frequently performed at open mics, including Uncommon Ground Clark, Grace, Devon locations, and One Ear show at the Heartland Café.
Lynn Bowersox has worked with a few record labels throughout her careers, such as Jive 19, Shanachie, and Mamasox. She was chosen in the Sister Cities program called “Experience Chicago” to represent Chicago folk musicians by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs in 2006. She went on a small independent cafe tour in 2007 and travelled internationally. She also visited Istanbul, Oaxaca City, Ankara, and Memphis.
Bowersox auditioned for American Idol in Chicago, Illinois, where she sang “Piece of My Heart.” She was praised by the guest judge, Shania Twain, and eventually secured second place on American Idol. She released her debut album entitled “Farmer’s Daughter” on December 14, 2010. The album was released on iTunes and in stores. She performed the single from her album entitled “Farmer’s Daughter” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on December 16, 2010. Her other notable studio albums include All That for This (March 26, 2013), and Alive (2017).
