Cowboy Mouth Information
Cowboy Mouth is an American band that was founded in 1990 by Fred LeBlanc along with John Thomas Griffith and originated from New Orleans, Louisiana, where they are also currently based. Its music is defined as alternative rock, roots rock, jam bands, and album-oriented rock. The current lineup of the band is Fred LeBlanc (lead vocals, drums, and frontman), John Thomas Griffith (guitar and vocals), Matt Jones (rhythm guitar and vocals), and Brian "Bruiser" Broussard (bass). Some of the former members are Casandra Faulconer - seventh bass player and vocals; Regina Zernay sixth bass player, and vocals; Jonathan Pretus rhythm guitar, vocals; and a few more.
The name of the group was taken from an early play by Sam Shepard and Patti Smith. The group released a few independent albums initially, but in 1996, the band signed with MCA Records and released "Are You with Me?." This album included a single named "Jenny Says," which was an existing song that the band re-recorded for the release. The song reached 33 on the Billboard Alternative Rock chart and turned out to be the biggest hit thus far for Cowboy Mouth.
A few of the other hit singles by the band are "Everybody Loves Jill," "How Do You Tell Someone," "Easy," "Disconnected," and many more. Some of the other notable albums by the band are Mercyland 1998, Uh-Oh 2003, Voodoo Shoppe 2006, Fearless 2008, The Name Of The Band Is 2016, and The Name Of The Band Is, Volume 2 2018.
Some of the live albums by Cowboy Mouth are Cowboy Mouth Live!, Live in the X Lounge "Jenny Says," Live at the Zoo, and Open Wide (6-Song EP). The band was also featured in three films - Underneath, New Orleans Music in Exile and The Name of The Band Is Cowboy Mouth.
