Cory Wong (1985) is an American producer, guitarist, and songwriter born in Poughkeepsie, New York. His dad was a huge jazz and classic rock fan, so he grew up listening to both. When he was nine years old, he started taking piano lessons. After becoming ing enamored with Primus and the Red enamored Peppers, he took up the bass and joined a band. To form a punk rock band, he studied guitar and bass. His initial instruments were a Gretsch guitar, a Fender Stratocaster, and a Fender Jazz Bass.
While the epidemic prevented Wong from traveling between 2020 and 2022, he recorded a slew of records as a solo artist and in collaboration with other artists, such as Dave Koz on The Golden Hour, Dirty Loops on Turbo, and The Fearless Flyers on Tailwinds. He created a YouTube music comedy variety show and began hosting a podcast for Premier Guitar magazine. The anime TV series Spy Ï Family theme music was created in 2023 through his collaboration with Japanese artist Vaundy.
Among Wong's main instruments are a 1965 Fender Super Reverb reissue and a Kemper Profiler amplifier; a guitar, a Fender Highway One Stratocaster, equipped with Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups. The accessories include D'Addario NYXL (.010-.046) strings, Ego Compressor by Wampler, Clean Drive by Vertex Steel String, and Big Sky by Strymon. In addition to the guitar, he uses a wide array of additional tools and gadgets. Recording straight to tape helps him achieve his goal of a clear tone.
