Corky Laing Information
Laurence Gordon "Corky" Laing (January 26, 1948) is a famous Canadian rock drummer and songwriter from Montreal, Quebec. His music is defined as hard rock, rock, blues-rock, psychedelic rock, and heavy metal. In 1961, Corky played drums for the group The Ink Spots for the first time. Later, he played in another band named Energy for a time. Laing founded blues-rock power trio West, Bruce, and Laing with his bandmate Leslie West and former Cream bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce.
Some of the notable discographies released under West, Bruce, and Laing include 1972 – Why Dontcha, 1973 – Whatever Turns You On, and 1974 – Live 'n' Kickin'. With Mountain the band, Laing has released the following studio albums; Climbing! (1970), Nantucket Sleighride (1971), Flowers of Evil (1971; partially live), Avalanche (1974), Go for Your Life (1985), and Masters of War (2007). Mountain Live: The Road Goes Ever On (1972) and Eruption (2004) are the two live albums, whereas The Best of Mountain (1973) and Over the Top (2007) and the two compilation albums by Mountain.
Laing has also collaborated with Bo Diddley, Mahogany Rush, John Lennon, Bobby Keys, Ten Years After, David Rea, Mylon LeFevre, and a few more. In 1991, Laing was featured on Men Without Hats' cover version of "I Am the Walrus" by The Beatles. As a guest, he appeared in 1969 – David Rea – Maverick Child, 1971 – David Rea – By the Grace of God, 1972 – Bobby Keys – Bobby Keys, 976 – Bo Diddley – The 20th Anniversary of Rock N' Roll, 1991 – Men Without Hats – Sideways, and several more.
