Chayanne Information
Elmer Figueroa Arce (June 28, 1968) is a Puerto Rican pop Latin singer and actor by the stage name Chayanne. One of the most successful Latin music musicians, Chayanne, has recorded 21 albums as a solo artist and sold over 15 million copies worldwide. During the 1980s, Chayanne was a member of two Puerto Rican telenovelas aired on WAPA-TV. Daniel Lugo starred in two other films, Sombras del Pasado with Alba Nydia Daz and Tormento with Yazmin Pereira.
After Los Chicos parted in 1984, Chayanne launched his career as a solo musician. He signed with RCA Victor the same year and released Chayanne es mi Nombre, his first studio album. Sangre Latina, his second album for RCA Victor, came out the same year.
Chayanne spent the first three years of his career with RCA Victor before signing with Sony Music and releasing his debut self-titled album in 1987. His second album, Chayanne, was released on November 1, 1988. Several of the songs on this album were Top 40 hits.
In 1993, Chayanne was nominated for Pop Song of the Year at the Lo Nuestro Awards. His hallmark song, Provócame, from the same album contained the smash "El Centro de mi Corazón" (No. 1 U.S. Hot Latin, 1992).
He first started giving talks in Spain on August 24, 2008. With the release of his new single "Tu respiración" on March 14, 2015, Chayanne provided the theme music for the 2015 soap serial Lo Impersonal.
