Buku Music and Art Project Information
The BUKU Music + Art Project is an annual two-day music and art festival hosted in New Orleans at Mardi Gras World and was launched in 2012 by Winter Circle Productions. Regarding festivals, BUKU believes it is a boutique event that packs a strong festival punch without sacrificing its house-party ambiance. BUKU brings together international musicians with local food vendors, local visual artists, and numerous surprise pop-up street performers throughout the site to serve as a platform for converging pop culture and the New Orleans underground arts scene.
Bassnectar, Lana Del Rey, Kid Cudi, Migos, MGMT, and Travis Scott are just some of the artists who have performed at BUKU in the past. The event, known as Mardi Gras World, takes place on the riverfront of New Orleans, close to the historic Warehouse District and the world-famous French Quarter.
There are several distinct stages at BUKU, including the Power Plant, the Ballroom, the Back Alley, which was replaced in 2018 by the Wharf Stage, and the Float Den. Located on the Mississippi River, BUKU offers its patrons breathtaking views of the Crescent City Connection bridge, which can be seen in the distance as boats and barges move along the waterway.
