Mark Anthony Myrie (July 15, 1973), also known as Buju Banton, is a Jamaican dancehall, ragga, and reggae singer. When it comes to Jamaican music, he is up there with the biggest names and most revered performers. In addition to the Marley brothers, Banton has worked with several worldwide musicians from the punk rock, hip-hop, and Latin music scenes.
Although Banton had been releasing dancehall singles since 1987, he didn't break out until 1992 with the release of Stamina Daddy and Mr. Mention, the latter of which became Jamaica's best-selling album. The same year, he dethroned Bob Marley and the Wailers from the top spot in Jamaican singles.
When Banton released his NFT, he was among the pioneers of Jamaican music. DJ Khaled featured him on the album Khaled Khaled. The song "WHERE YOU COME FROM" features him, Capleton, and Bounty Killer. God Did, DJ Khaled's album from 2022, included Banton. Among his other musicians who contributed to the song "These Streets Know My Name" were Skilliberg, Capleton, Bounty Killer, and Sizzla.
