Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen (September 23, 1949) is an American rock singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He was born in Long Branch, New Jersey. Despite his animosity against the nuns at Freehold, New Jersey's St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, and his subsequent rebellion against their authority, Springsteen went on to write songs that represented a Catholic ethos and contained Irish-Catholic hymns with a rock and roll twist. After failing to find a place in the exclusive Freehold Preparatory School, Springsteen transferred to the public Freehold High School in ninth grade.
On May 29, 2020, at Fenway Park in Boston, Springsteen made a remote appearance during a live-streamed, no-audience concert by the Dropkick Murphys. Springsteen and Ken Casey sang a duet on "American Land" and "Rose Tattoo" by the Dropkick Murphys. The single "Letter to You" by Springsteen was released on September 10, 2020.
