Pronounced TRAN-baw, Brittany Ann Tranbaugh is a Grammy-winning musician from Philadelphia. She started as a musician in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania at Godfrey Daniels, one of the last true folk hearing rooms in the United States. Since then, she has played at festivals like Firefly and Philly Folk Fest and in concert halls, living rooms, cellars, bars, coffee shops, backyards, and more across the United States and Canada.
She has been a finalist in the Gems in the Rough, Kerrville New Folk, and LEAF NewSong contests, and her queer country heartbreaker "Kiss You" won the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. A new EP named "Quarter Life Crisis Haircut" was released by her in April 2022; it was her first proper release in over a decade.
She sings about coming out as queer in sixth grade, having a weird encounter with an old friend, and the difficulty of achieving true folk music authenticity in the modern era, among other topics, in a new batch of songs that are memorable and carefully crafted under the production of Jackson Emmer. The EP displays Tranbaugh's best work to date, which ranges from witty and sarcastic to heartbreaking and raw.
