Brett Newski (December 27, 1986) is a North American nomad, folk-punk guitarist, illustrator, and songwriter from New Berlin, Wisconsin. Newski toured Southeast Asia all alone for six months in 2011. He kept touring until he completed his first solo LP entitled “In Between Exits.” The album was recorded and written in budget apartments and venues all across the Philippines, Korea, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Thailand.
Newski completed almost 30 shows in unconventional venues such as residential rooftops in Hong Kong, an underground Korean record shop, a Vietnamese convenience store, and Couchsurfer Apartments while coining “Homeless in Asia Tour.”
Newski has worked with different record labels, including Yes Please Records, Good Land Records, and Make My Day Records. He also completed almost a 20-date tour all across South Africa in 2012. He went on the tour to promote “In Between Exits.”
Newski is the founder of the band called “Brett Newski & the Corruption,” and he has also gone on tour in Vietnam with Mean Matt Green (drummer) and Jeffro Ganter (bassist). Brett Newski & the Corruption band toured across Asia and the United States. Sound of the band was compared to that of The Violent Femmes, The Pixies, The Hives, REM, and Weezer.
Newski has released several notable albums throughout his career such as Saigon At Night (2012), Tiny Victories (2013), American Folk Armageddon (2014), Hi-fi D.I.Y (2015), Land Air Sea Garage (2016), The Worst of Brett Newski (2017), Left Upside Down (2018), and Going Solo is Better than Being Alone: Live in Wisconsin (2019).
